Did someone say gingerbread?!?

Traditions! How fun.

Do you have traditions with your family and friends for the holidays?

Traditions are great because they create memories.

And memories make you smile.

Kael and Izzy look forward to making gingerbread houses every year! They were so excited, and asked "can we decorate them yet" so many times, that they were sent outside to play.

It was a warm winter day, cozy sweaters and their running back and forth to the house (to peek in) kept them warm enough.  And while they played games outside, the smell of the fresh cookies baking floated in the air.

They could hear the Christmas music playing from the kitchen, and their mom singing along.  And as they snuck a peek, they giggled when they saw their dad trying to help bake. He caught them and shooed them off a few time,always with a few gumdrops to hold them over, he loved to see their smiles and he knew how hard they were trying to be so patient.

Their Mom finished the baking, she whipped up the frosting, and gathered all the sweet decorations and had their Dad set it all out as a decoration station by the Christmas tree. And then they watched from the cozy couch, with hot cocoa in hand as the sweet chaos began.

They took the time to appreciate how lucky they were, They smiled as their children used their imaginations on their little sweet treats. They laughed as Izzy took all the pink candies, and as Kael licked his fingers. He ate more of the frosting than what he put on his house and most of the remaining gum drops ended up in Izzy's pocket.

This is one of their traditions, and will be a favorite memory.

And those Gingerbread houses never make it to Christmas  *wipes some crumbs from Izzy's chin*
