What is your family Christmas sock tradition? We always got an orange in the toe, a few really big nuts, those life saver books that had the delicious butter rum lifesavers. I hated those as a kid, but would love to find as a adult. We found some other candy treats and things like toothbrushes, bubbles, a slinky, and silly putty. The sock was always a favorite part of our holiday tradition.
Kael and Izzy got new Christmas socks to hang today and Mom could not resist capturing a memory while they were both clean, and smiling.
Did you know how the tradition of hanging socks to fill with goodies started? It is told that, a very poor family hung their only socks to dry by the fire on Christmas eve. The family was very proud and would not accept any help. Santa knew they needed some help, and tossed some gold coins in the window and right into those socks to help the family out and the kids found the gold coins the next morning when they put on their clean dry socks. They were very thankful for the magic of the season.
Izzy and Kael can not wait till Christmas morning. They at dreaming of all the goodies that Santa will stuff in those socks.
The twin's Moms always make them help pick out stuff they would like in their sock so they can help Santa help families in need. Moms say the twins should pick out something they think other kids would like and then they spend an evening packing Christmas socks to donate to other kids. They always make this a fun evening of cocoa, treats, and Christmas music.
They still are excited for their socks they will get, but are much more happy to be helping others find some holiday cheer.
